NN Community Investment
NN Community Investment partnerships and initiatives
Our community investment programme is dedicated to improving the financial, physical and mental well-being of the communities we serve. With around 180 partnerships across the markets in which we operate, we support a range of organisations. We do this financially but also with non-financial support, for example, by offering our resources, expertise, networks and through volunteering initiatives. In this way, we aim to help bring about positive social transformation by directly supporting initiatives, helping our partner organisations to grow and become stronger, and by contributing to systems change.
Examples of our group-wide initiatives
NN and Junior Achievement (JA) Europe have a long-standing history of collaboration to create economic opportunities by facilitating social entrepreneurship and workforce development. Together young people are empowered to transition into employment or entrepreneurship through job placements, startup support and self-employment initiatives. NN is the launching partner of Economic Opportunities for All (EOFA), a JA initiative aimed at preparing underserved youth – such as students pursuing vocational education and training, migrants, and young people with disabilities – with work-readiness skills, financial literacy, and access to employment. Since its foundation in 2022, EOFA has successfully helped more than 2000 young people.
In 2024, NN Group established a Disaster Relief Fund with the Red Cross. The fund aims to support those affected by disasters in countries where we operate and to provide a quick and effective response. Its main focus is on supporting the most vulnerable and those whose physical and/or mental well-being has been affected. In the past, this fund has been used to support those impacted by an earthquake in Japan, wildfires in Greece, and floods in Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Spain.
In 2024, we launched a new partnership, ‘Mental Well-being & Resilience for the Next Generation’, with SOS Children’s Villages Netherlands and Save the Children Netherlands. This initiative will support over 40,000 children and caregivers with essential resources to provide crucial educational aid, mental health and psychosocial support to those who need it most.
Examples of initiatives in the Netherlands
In collaboration with Oranje Fonds we initiated and funded the Stronger Together Against Poverty programme, which focuses on strengthening local strategic alliances that provide a broad, accessible range of social and financial support to those living in poverty or in problematic debt.
The Goldschmeding Foundation aims to achieve lasting change in the way people work and collaborate, by leveraging knowledge, networks and donations.
Driven by the conviction that we all benefit when we look out for one another, one focus area for the foundation and its partners is to promote an inclusive labour market.
Together with the Noaber Foundation we run a programme to improve the mental health of the next generations in the Netherlands, from cradle to career. With a focus on prevention and healthy behaviour, we collaborate with partners from the social sector, knowledge institutions, and governments to work on sustainable systemic change and targeted interventions that truly make a difference.
Volunteering
We believe that volunteering enhances the impact of our Community Investment programme. Supporting our partners in achieving their missions, enriches our colleagues’ understanding of societal challenges and strengthens their engagement with the community and our company. Volunteering provides a meaningful way for individuals to connect with and address what matters most to them. In addition to the company-wide volunteering programme, there is also the annual NN Volunteer Week where we bring colleagues together to support a range of initiatives.
In addition to volunteering at most of our partners, we also work with Stichting Present Nederland, a Dutch initiative that aims to bridge the gap between people who need help with those who can offer it. They have a network of around 75 local foundations that organise thousands of projects annually, benefiting over 65,000 people.
