NN celebrates the first anniversary of Future Matters

On 17 October, Future Matters, NN Group’s overarching corporate citizenship programme, celebrated its first anniversary. To commemorate the event, Future Matters awarded several donations of EUR 10,000 to organisations in countries in which NN operates. The recipient organisations promote financial literacy, create economic opportunities and alleviate poverty in their communities.

As the first anniversary of Future Matters coincided with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, several organisations working towards this end received special attention.

For example, in the Netherlands the selected charity is the LINDA.foundation. This foundation provides gift cards to (single parent) families with children, who are experiencing financial difficulties. The families selected receive one box with gift cards, which they can use to buy products at a Dutch supermarket, household-goods, clothing-and toy stores.

In Bulgaria, the EUR 10,000 donation was made to the Financial Literacy Initiative Foundation for the launch of the second edition of the project ‘My life, my finances’. This project aims to increase the financial literacy of students in secondary schools in Bulgaria. This initiative is chosen under the belief that a person can provide a stable and secure life for himself and his family when he has financial knowledge and can make informed and responsible financial decisions.

Future Matters

Like every other business, NN Group aims to be profitable, but at the same time we have a responsibility to be a good corporate citizen. This role gives our company a broader sense of purpose. By aligning our business and community investment objectives, we can support people in finding their way towards a financially strong and secure future. With our programme ‘Future Matters’ we support a broad scope of local initiatives in the communities in which we operate. And we make commitments towards these initiatives.

Our commitment to financial empowerment and entrepreneurship is one of them. We believe we can contribute to helping people gain the skills and insight they need to secure their financial future. To achieve this, we use various channels and tools to create awareness and develop knowledge and insight. Entrepreneurs create employment, encourage growth and help energise the economy. We therefore support projects that create entrepreneurial awareness and develop entrepreneurial skills. We contribute by donating funds, as well as offering our networks, venues and mentoring. In particular, we support the development of young entrepreneurs and business ventures with a social impact.
