NN Group awards scholarships

To celebrate the first anniversary of Future Matters, NN Group’s overarching corporate citizenship programme, seven students from Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania were granted Future Matters Scholarships.

The goal of the scholarships is to provide talented, first-generation academics the opportunity to follow a Master’s Programme in the Netherlands in the field of finance, risk and economics.

Delfin Rueda, CFO NN Group, will be mentoring one of the students: ‘At the start of our Corporate Citizenship programme Future Matters, exactly one year ago, the idea to move forward with a scholarship programme at NN Group seemed a natural next step. With Future Matters we help people grow their economic opportunities, so they are better able to realise their dreams and overcome possible adversity. What better way than to provide talented and ambitious students a scholarship to take their future into their own hands. Especially by linking an NN mentor I see strong dual benefits. We provide them with hands-on advice and business experience and we as mentors get to learn from this eager new generation.’

In realising this scholarship, NN Group is collaborating with EP-NUFFIC, a Dutch organisation for international cooperation for higher education.

All students will receive a fixed monetary amount to cover tuition and a large part of living expenses. The students chose to study at universities in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Tilburg.

Future Matters is proud to support these motivated students and wishes them the best of luck as they begin their studies.

Future Matters

Like every other business, NN Group aims to be profitable, but at the same time we have a responsibility to be a good corporate citizen. This role gives our company a broader sense of purpose. By aligning our business and community investment objectives, we can support people in finding their way towards a financially strong and secure future. With our programme ‘Future Matters’ we support a broad scope of local initiatives in the communities in which we operate. And we make commitments towards these initiatives.

Our commitment to financial empowerment and entrepreneurship is one of them. We believe we can contribute to helping people gain the skills and insight they need to secure their financial future. To achieve this, we use various channels and tools to create awareness and develop knowledge and insight. Entrepreneurs create employment, encourage growth and help energise the economy. We therefore support projects that create entrepreneurial awareness and develop entrepreneurial skills. We contribute by donating funds, as well as offering our networks, venues and mentoring. In particular, we support the development of young entrepreneurs and business ventures with a social impact.
